How Can I check the amount of data I need to backup online?
When you select the files for online backup we will indicate the size of files selected when you receive your email to confirm size of files succesfully backed up the size of files will be highlighted. You can then reduce the files selected for online backup if you wish.
How Do I know that my files have been backed up?
After every online backup you will receive an e mail to confirm that your files have been backed up successfully. You can also log in to your datamonster online backup account and check your client log anytime. For peace of mind we recommend that you regularly test it for yourself and restore a few files.
Do I get charged if I need to restore my data?
With the Datamonster online backup software you have unlimited FREE restores so you can restore as much as you like as many times as you like at no charge.
Is there a cost when the online backup software is uppgraded?
All upgrades are FREE
What notice period do I need to give if I wish to cancel my subscription?
No notice is required however you will need to notify us that you wish to cancel your subscription. We will charge you for the balance of the month that you cancelled your subscription no further payments will then be required.
What will happen to my files after I have cancelled my subscription?
Your files will be deleted from our servers.
How do I pay?
Payments can be made using a debit or credit card. All payments are collected via WorldPay part of Royal Bank of Scotland and the transaction will appear on your statement as "WP - Automated Backup".We do not charge any transaction fees.
If I'm a resident outside of the UK can I subscribe to Datamonster online backup?
Yes. The online backup software can be used in any country where you have internet access.
Can I pay my subscriptions in other currencies?
Yes. Payments can be made in any currency supported by Worldpay.
What do I need to do if I require more online storage space?
If you exceed the amount of data for your current package you will be charged £1 plus vat for each additional gb used.

How secure is the Datamonster online backup software?
The Datamonster online backup software is extremely secure, no one at datamonster can access or view your files, which are both password protected and encrypted using 448-bit military grade blowfish technology. This is more than 3 times the level of security used by the banking industry. All files are stored offsite in 2 separate secure data centres and the software is designed to be compliant with ISO17799.

Can I use the Datamonster online backup software anywhere in the world?
Yes. Wherever you are in the world you can use the Datamonster online backup software just as long as you have an internet connection.
How long will it take to back up my files?
Your first online backup will take the longest. Dependant on file sizes your first online backup may be hours or even days as all the files you select will need to upload to our servers. When all files have been uploaded your daily online backups are very quick as only new or changed files are uploaded.
What files can the Datamonster online backup software protect?
We can backup any type of file including emails, word, excel, digital images, pdf files, scanned documents, music files as well as databases (Exchange, Access, SQL, Oracle).
We do not suggest online backup of program files or operating systems
however you can backup your System State.

What happens if my Internet connection disconnects during an online backup?
The Datamonster online backup software remembers exactly where it was in the transfer process and will automatically try to reconnect and carry on with the online backup.
Will Datamonster online backup software work with any Internet connection?
Yes, you can use any Internet connection with the datamonster online backup software
Will the Datamonster online backup software work through my firewall?
Yes. The Datamonster online backup software will work through most firewalls.
Will the Datamonster online backup software work with laptops, desktops and servers?
Yes. Download our software onto your laptop, desktop or server and it will work with any of them. It can backup SQL and Exchange servers and also mapped or networked drives.
Will the Datamonster online backup software work with Mac and other operating systems?
Yes the Datamonster online backup software will work with Microsoft, Mac (OSX upwards) and Linux. Please ensure you download the correct software for the relevant platform.
Can I set the Datamonster on line backup software on more than 1 machine?
Yes, once you set up your account you can go to the customer login area and install the online backup software on additional machines. If you wish to backup both Mac and Windows machines you will need 2 accounts.
Is it possible to use the Datamonster online backup software to back up drives from co-located web servers hosted in a remote data centre?
If you install the Datamonster on line backup software on a computer that has network access to your co-located space and can see the file system, you will be able to back up those files.
Can I backup my Mac and any other operating system?
YES. When you register for an account you will be asked which software you wish to download (for Mac, Windows or Linux).
Can the Datamonster online backup software backup open files?
SQL and Access databases must be closed prior to backing up. Files such as Outlook (.pst), Word or Excel documents that are open will be backed up, the last saved version will be stored. The Datamonster on line backup software provides a plug-in to backup MS Exchange.
Does my machine need to be switched on for the Datamonster online backup software to backup?
Yes, the system must be on for automatic online backups to take place. If the computer is off the online backup will run the next time it is switched on. You can also backup manually at any time.
Can I use my computer whilst an online backup is running?
Yes, whilst the Datamonster online backup software runs in the background you can continue to use your computer without affecting the backup. The only exceptions are if you are backing up Database files, these programs must be closed whilst the Datamonster online backup software is backing them up.
How can I check the amount of data I need to backup?
In Windows you can check on your computer or within the Datamonster online backup software. If you select the file or folder you wish to back up and right click on it the properties for this file/folder will now appear showing how big it is. On a MAC you can also check on your computer or within the Datamonster online backup software, select the file or folder you wish to back up and control-click on it. The properties for this file/folder will now appear showing how big it is.
Can a file containing a virus infect other data on the Datamonster online backup software servers?
No, you cannot receive a virus from any infected file that may be backed up to the Datamonster online backup software because we do not open any files that are uploaded. Please note that if a file backed up to the Datamonster online backup software contains a virus when the file is restored it may still contain the virus.
Can I backup Microsoft Windows Vista with the Datamonster online backup software?
YES, when you have installed the Datamonster online backup software onto your computer initially
Right click on the desktop shortcut to the Datamonster online backup software and select 'Run as administrator' and then set up your backups in the normal way
How can I restore my data?
Files can be restored twenty four hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year directly from your Datamonster online backup software. Simply open the software, click on the restore tab and choose the file or files that you need to restore. To restore files to a new machine, you would first go to the login area on our website & download the Datamonster online backup software onto your new computer.
Can I restore just a single file or do I need to restore everything?
You have the choice to restore a single file, multiple files/folders or everything.
Will my PC continue to backup if it goes into standby?
The online backup will continue when your PC next connects to the internet.
If I select a backup cycle of say 30, does this mean that I will
pay for 30 times the amount of storage?
No. As the online backup is incremental only files that have changed since the last backup will count towards the additional storage.
