These online backup definitions are fully automated online backups that once created will run automatically. Your online backup definitions can be set to automatically backup hourly, daily, weekly or monthly the choice is yours. You can set up just one main online backup definition or seperate online backup definitions we recommend creating seperate online backup definitions. For example my accounts, my photos, my email etc.
You can select what time you wish your backup to commence you can also select a different backup cycle for each definition. The backup cycle is the number of copies of each backup that are stored. For example a backup cycle of 10 will store the past 10days online backup if for example you set your definition to backup daily. So if you realise you deleted a file by mistake 5 days ago you can restore the file from your online backup that was created 6 days ago. This is also very useful if your computer has a virus as the data can be restored prior to the virus.
The backup cycle is one of the key differences between cloud storage services that can be found now on the internet and online backup services. Cloud storage is effectively the syncing of data so it is held on a remote server. However if a file is deleted by mistake on your computer as soon as a sync takes place the file is also removed from the remote server. Cloud storage is often confused with online backup and it is not an effective backup for business.
With the datamonster online backup software you can increase or decrease the amount of data you backup online anytime and change your settings anytime. You can also do manual online backups if you wish.
At any one time your data is stored on two secure servers both of which are UK based. After every online backup you will receive an email to confirm that your data is safe, this email will confirm how many folders and files have been backed up and also the size of your online backup definitition.
